Mas Côté Sud is the southern wing of a large 18th century farmhouse on the same property as Villa Augusta, which is about 500 meters away. It has its own entrance, driveway and parking as well as a pool and side terrace, both of which are private and unseen from the owner's side. Mas Côté Sud faces south across a vast and spectacular private valley planted with truffle oaks and is two minutes from the village of Buoux in the Luberon National Park. Seemingly miles from anywhere with its wide-open spaces, tranquility and wildlife, this lovely old house is equidistant between the market town of Apt and the exquisite medieval town of Lourmarin with its galleries and restaurants. The surrounding countryside is very well known for rock climbing and hiking and with a fabulous old Chateau and an extraordinary medieval fort nearby, the area is also a painter and photographers’ delight.

Sitting on several hectares of land with lavender fields, truffle oaks and natural bush land, Mas Côté Sud is a delightful two story stone house with white shutters and picture windows and doors framing beautiful views. Inside the house are thick stone walls, tiled floors and exposed beams of traditional Provencal architecture. Because of its position, light floods the house from dawn to sunset. There is also a pretty 4.30 meter x 8.50 meter pool, which is sunny all day and is set 30 meters away from the main house.

Notes: One can drive right up to the house but only to unload/load luggage. Otherwise, cars are kept in the parking area, which is 40 meters from the house behind the tree hedge. Regional summer festivities include: Theater in Avignon, Opera in Aix and Orange, Jazz festival in La Roque d'Antheron and all antique fairs and flea markets. Tennis in Apt or Bonnieux, horseback riding in Apt, mountain bikes for rent in Bonnieux. In January and February, the owners, who also own a truffle farm, organize special weekend and full week truffle adventures! There is an excellent restaurant in Buoux, Auberge de la Loube.

Distances: Buoux: 2 minutes, Apt and Bonnieux : 10 minutes, Avignon and Aix-en-Provence: 50 minutes and the Marseille airport is just over an hour.
