This elegant, gracious yet surprisingly cozy villa is located high up in a pine forest overlooking the historic walled town of Orvieto, about 40 miles north of Rome. A much loved private home, it has been in the same family for generations and it shows. The lavish gardens are filled with plants and flowers from all over the world, mementos from the owners' distinguished diplomatic career. Plush chintz sofas, a welcoming marble fire place and lovely French doors leading out to the magnificent gardens all add to the comfort of this very pretty villa.

After entering through a wisteria-covered loggia filled with comfortable furniture for dining out on summer evenings, you come to the impressive stone hallway leading to the three connected reception rooms. Choose between the comfy study, the formal living room and the stately dining room adjoining the main kitchen. A separate smaller kitchen, eating area and bedroom with bath and shower are also on the ground floor. Climb the impressive stairway to another sitting room and the additional bedrooms and bathrooms upstairs.

Perhaps best of all is the large, beautiful 12m x 5.5m swimming pool surrounded by morning glory covered pergolas and lovely exotic flowers from all over the world. Because of its altitude cool breezes relieve even the hottest summer days. An ideal spot from which to visit the treasures of both Tuscany and Umbria, Casa Raffaella is a prefect retreat for the most discerning traveler.
