Aguazul is perched on a cliff overlooking the sea and it has absolutely breathtaking views. Located in the very chic and very private resort of Careyes on Mexico’s Pacific coast, this wonderful house is a marvelous combination of Mediterranean design and Mexican style. Aguazul is entered via a stone mosaic walkway. Along one side of the path is a wall with tall niches holding large pots overflowing with ferns and on the other is one of the guest casitas set in a lovely garden. Straight ahead one sees through the house to the ocean beyond – a sublime visual.

Past the entrance hall and nestled between two patios is the dining room. A few steps beyond, one steps down to the living room which is completely open to the ocean. Across the lawn is an infinity pool surrounded by a checkerboard terrace with a bougainvillea-laden pergola, which provides shade to a decadently large day bed. On the same level is the huge master bedroom, which is separated from the main house by a staircase leading up to a roof terrace. Just below the pool is the third bedroom with a private terrace overlooking the ocean below.

Aguazul was designed so that all rooms benefit from the extraordinary view and each of the air-conditioned bedroom suites is completely independent so as to provide the maximum amount of privacy. This wonderful villa is perfect for two, four or six people.

Cook, maid and butler. They are excellent and very nice.

Notes
A single bed could be added in the bungalow though it would make the room much smaller

Distances (approximate)
Chamela, 10 minutes north of Careyes has a 4000 ft. dirt strip for light aircraft. Manzanillo is one hour south and Puerto Vallarta is two hours north. While the Manzanillo airport is closer, service is more limited even though it is served by international airlines such as Continental, Alaskan and Mexicana. Puerto Vallarta is served all major airlines.
