on the Pacific Coast of Mexico. A long winding drive brings one to the
top of a cliff where this remarkable house sits. Sol de Occidente, like
all the villas here, is designed in the unique style for which Careyes
is famous. It's an imposing modern villa, Luis Barragan in feeling and
built on two floors around a huge palapa. Not only is it
architecturally marvelous, the views are breathtaking as well. To the
east is the dramatic coastline and to the west across a bay on an
opposite point is Sol de Oriente, an equally fantastic villa, which is

Distances: A private dirt 1200 meter (4000 feet) landing strip is located 10 minutes south of Careyes. Manzanillo is 1 hour north and Puerto Vallarta is 2 ½ hours south. While the Manzanillo airport is closer, Puerto Vallarta receives most major airlines. |
